The Homer Spit
May 18 - June 1, 2015
After making an overnight trip on Cook Inlet toward the ocean, the Statendam docked at the end of the Homer Spit. Through the clouds, we could see the majestic peaks of the Kenai Mountains.
Sam and Al took a Homer Highlights tour visiting an art studio/gallery, the Alaska Islands and Oceans Visitor Center, and the Pratt Museum.
After the tour, we boarded a shuttle and went to the other side of the Spit and ate a delicious seafood meal. Homer is billed as “the halibut capital of the world.”
The sailaway in the late afternoon provided an awesome view of the mountains on the Kenai Peninsula.
