Leaving Ft. Lauderdale

Al Meeh boarded the Holland America Zuiderdam in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, on April 18, 2017, for a cruise to Copenhagen followed by a visit with friends in Sweden.

As you can see in the above itinerary, there were ten full days at sea. In my many years of cruising, I had never stopped in the Azores and so the day on São Miguel was a special treat. Cherbourg was a bit disappointing due to the rainy weather. At Zeebrugge, I spent the day visiting a Belgian family I have known for 38 years. Those of you who have been to Amsterdam know what a great walking city that it is and it was good to get off the ship and stretch my legs. Copenhagen this time was just a pass through city on the way to the airport to take the plane to Gothenburg

Making this cruise most memorable were my delighful traveling companions  with whom I dined each night. Also I was pleasantly surprised to find that Jean Parteka of Milwaukee was aboard. Jean and I had previously gotten acquainted some years ago on another Holland America ship.
